YOUR NEW KITTEN

Your kitten’s first visit to the vet
Soon after you adopt a new kitten, you should schedule an appointment with one of our veterinarians. Please bring any records regarding vaccinations or medical treatments your pet may have already received. We also recommend bringing a fresh stool sample to the appointment so that we can test for common intestinal parasites that kittens can carry.  The doctor will perform a complete physical examination to look for any problems, such as eye discharge, ear mites, or even a heart murmur. You will have a chance to discuss the different types of feline vaccinations with the doctor to determine which ones your kitten will need. Your kitten may receive vaccines at the initial appointment but if the time isn’t right, we will let you know when vaccinations should be scheduled. A deworming medication may be administered or prescribed in order to clear any intestinal parasites your kitten may be infected with. The doctor will also talk about spaying or neutering your kitten and can provide you with information on the health benefits of sterilizing your new pet.
